We have been here for the quiz and also to eat at the weekend. The atmosphere is great and the food is of a nice standard for pub food. The quiz nights were ace. There is a nice undercover outdoor area with heaters for smokers. Inside has a mix of sofas, chairs and stools, something to suit most. On quiz nights it could get a little packed but the staff were always friendly and you didn't struggle to get served.

The Purple Dog is a pretty nice pub. Considering the location it's rather quiet and the staff and locals are lovely. That said, I've only frequented the Purple Dog on the odd occasion, however I've had a good time every time I've been there.
Recently moved to Colchester and absolutely love this pub, reminds me of my local from back in the south of England.Fantastic food and company, bar staff always willing to have a chat and make you feel like your a valued punter.
Good food, nice atmosphere. Great quiz for charity. Like the TARDIS, much bigger on the inside. Nice place, look forward to visiting again.
