Would recommend this company and would definitely use them if we rent our property in the future
I just want to start of this review by saying: I have NEVER felt compelled to write a review in my life. However, in the case of good ol' Saxons I believe it's absolutely necessary. In writing this review I could not find the right pejorative word to describe this "agency." Inept? Dishonest? Duplicitous? All of the above and more i'm afraid.Briefly, my friends and I rented out a student house with them, and while the house didn't come in great condition, it's what you can expect from your general student housing. However, if you try and contact them about any urgent issues with the house they can take months to get back to you despite constant reminders; but, you better believe that they will always be in contact immediately if there is an issue which involves their interests. Additionally, Saxons capriciously decides to charge 'admin fees' and 'checkout fees' at any given opportunity. At the end of the tenancy my house mates and I where charged excessive fees (which they tried to take from our deposit). The claim for "a broken fire extinguisher" was a personal favourite of mine; despite being entirely fabricated. A few days after the claims by Saxons, the chief "agent" we were in contact with Geoff, tried to get us to agree to their deductions by persistently and rather pathetically spamming us with the same email. This is a sly tactic for one just to accept their terms as usually students can be cajoled and manipulated rather easily as they don't know their rights.Therefore, we decided to dispute their claim and went through the Deposit Protection Scheme, which is free and I cannot praise them highly enough as they are objective and impartial. Their subsequent decision allowed us to recover hundreds of pounds of our deposit which Saxons tried to claim. Although, this process was not quick and it took months for a final decision to be made, it was a rather satisfying feeling to know that their erroneous claims were rejected. Finally, I highly doubt the credibility of the recent influx of 5 star reviewers, who when you click on their profile are obviously fake, giving 5 star reviews to every company - some as far as Latin America. This seems like an amusing attempt by Saxons to try and disguise their unsavoury business practices. Overall, my Saxons experience was abjectly negative and I could not possibly in good faith recommend them to anyone.

I've used Saxons for 4 years as a landlord. The service levels have been decent. No complaints so far.
Dan was amazing advising us as we were new to the area. His knowledge helped us both in buying and letting. He even met us in the street a year later and remembered us by name. A great brain to have on your side.
