Stayed there for a couple of nights was okay, nothing to write home about.
This was the cheapest stay I could find in the area. The hotel appears to be recently refurbished ans was very spick and span. Room was clean and tidy and had all the usual facilities (tea, TV etc). Good value. Only criticism is they have not got round to signage yet so had to explore building to find room.
very dirty the staff is highly unprofessional, if you want an advice better sleep in the car. Do not give the details of your credit card or you will find surprises. Avoid to all the costs
chose the Globe because I was looking for inexpensive accommodation in Colchester. thought 50 per night very reasonable. (OK, add VAT to that, but it is still reasonable for bed and breakfast in a hotel within walking distance of the city centre.) No extra charge for guest parking. was very pleased to find a large room (room 12) with en suite shower room, kitchenette, ample furniture and a very comfortable double bed. The stairs, hallway and breakfast room are stylishly decorated. The breakfasts were excellent. The choice of foods could not have been wider: fruit, cereals, juices, bread (DIY toast) and plenty of cooked items. If you need food later in the day North Station Street is crammed with takeaways and restaurants. can also recommend the Blackshore Stout at the Victoria Inn. If I ever go to Colchester again shall certainly try to stay at the Globe again. Any negatives? Well the lift does not work but they warn you about that in the booking document. Brilliant hotel!
Decent room for prize but noisy because of the thin walls. Also, whenever i took a shower the space around it gets full of water. A receptionist is not always available. I waited 5 minutes to check out.
