I've visited the George a couple of times since the first when I was working with the BBC. The food, whilst expensive is exceptionally lovely, and the staff are fantastic. Whilst I've never stayed there overnight, the place is kept in brilliant condition by the staff and quality is definitely the most important aspect of their service. It's one of the best Surya Hotels, and definitely a beautiful place to go in regards to high quality food, which is somewhat lacking in Colchester!

Me and my friend have just had lunch at the George enjoying a drink when we were joined by a mouse running across the floor!!! I have to say the floor was like a three course banquet for a mouse. After getting over the shock and moving tables I informed a member of staff who was not really interested and said they come in through the front door. We will definitely NOT be visiting again.
